Alice Louise (Dailey) Naig 1932-2022

Alice Louise Naig, the daughter of Archie and Opal (Welsh) Dailey was born on November 26, 1932, in Spencer, Iowa. She died on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 89 years.

On February 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Naig in DePew, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the DePew and Cylinder area. In the 1980's, the couple moved into Graettinger. Alice worked for Berkley’s. She also went to work at Iowa Lakes Community College as a cook until she retired. When LeRoy became ill, Alice stayed home to take care of him.

She enjoyed yardwork, gardening and being outside. She loved to bake and cook, and never wanted anyone to go away hungry. Alice worried about everyone and always was a caregiver. She never passed up a good rummage sale.

Left to cherish her memory is her, daughter, Cynthia (Andy) Matheason of Emmetsburg; son, Douglas Naig of Prescott Valley, Arizona; grandchildren, Troy Matheason, Teri (Kris) Voyna, Brandon (Katelyn) Naig, Janelle Naig (Johnathan Stout), and Jenifer Burke-Lowe:, great-grandchildren, Josh, Jason and Jordan Matheason, Leo Voyna, and Jaidyn and Bristol Naig; brothers, Don Dailey of Florida and Marv (Wanda) Dailey of Armstrong; In-Laws, Marcella Smith, Emmetsburg, Marilyn Naig, Emmetsburg and Grace Ann Fanning, Illinois; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy Naig in 2009, sister-in-law, Pat Dailey, brothers, Gary (DeeAnn) Dailey, and Wayne (Beverly) Dailey, her mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Vera Naig, In-Laws, Charley (June) Naig, Arno (Josephine) Juhl, Richard Naig, Wayne Smith, Ken (Marie) Evenson, Robert (Marilyn) Naig, and Gaylord (Janice) Naig, and her friendly dog, Penny.

A funeral service was held Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Lori Westfall as officiant. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Spencer, Iowa.
