ANOTHER PIONEER IS LAID TO REST
Jens Jensen Called to Better Land Last Saturday Morning.

Jens Jensen died at his home in the east part of town Saturday morning after a lingering illness. The funeral was eld in the St. Petri church Monday afternoon.

The deceased was born in Denmark in 1827, was married to the lady who survives him in 1855, and emigrated to America in 1869, settling on the farm south of Story City, which was their home until they moved to town a few years ago.

Mr. Jensen was a veteran of the Slesvig-Holstein war between Denmark and Prussia and could relate many stirring tales from that unhappy conflict. He lived his life as a quiet, unassuming Christian gentleman and had earned the respect of all who during his long residence here had come to know him.

Besides the widow, seven children are left to mourn his loss, namely, Mrs. Corneliussen, Mrs. Mary E. Strong of Des Moines, Christian, Peter and Charles of this place and Anna M. Dalva of Newport, Wash.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Some of the children of Jens Jensen took the last names "Johnson" while others stayed with "Jensen."
